The student Army training corps was activated at Syracuse University on October 1, 1918 with an enrollment of 130 students organized into four companies and a 35 piece band. The unit was reorganized on the 1st of February 1919 by the War Department and became a permanent military department at Syracuse University known as the Reserve Officer Training Corps. The Corps of Cadets in 1919 consisted of 120 cadets receiving Infantry training.
